this week we're reading Kiri Miller's article, "Schizophonic Performance: 'Guitar Hero,' 'Rock Band,' and Virtual Virtuosity." Journal of the Society for American Music 3, no. 4 (November, 2009). Miller is probably (definitely?) going to be speaking here at UW-Madison in the spring, so this is a great opportunity to get familiar with her recent work.

When: 2PM, Friday September 10
Where: the classroom in Mills Music Library (in the basement of Memorial library, room B162)
What: find the file at our google site here or in IIMP or Cambridge Press online

post any thoughts/questions/burning issues on our google site ahead of time.

no opera, no opera, no opera

sorry folks, be we've decided to cancel opera night on Friday (9/3). blame it on the construction, the rain, the the upcoming 2-day school week.... just don't blame it on us and our crazy schedules. we will most certainly reschedule, because I very much want to hear people sing about the bomb.
